Dentures

Dentures generally refer to replacement of teeth with a removable appliance, using plastic or porcelain teeth. Where there are no teeth left in the upper or lower of your mouth a full denture may be provided. However if you have remaining teeth in your mouth a partial denture may be provided.

When a denture is fitted for the first time, it can take some time to get used to having the denture in your mouth. They should be looked after and brushed just like your natural teeth.

When wearing a denture it is important to maintain good oral hygiene. Poor fitting dentures can cause sore spots, ulcerations or other problems. After dentures have been in the mouth for several years, the shape of your mouth may change. This means the denture will often need to be relined or remade.
