Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a treatment aiming to improve the appearance, position and function of misaligned teeth.

Orthodontics uses devices such as braces to correct the position of the teeth. These devices are normally used for an 18 month period but this can be extended if the dental surgeon and patient see necessary to continue improvement.

Orthodontics are normally required when the teeth or jaw do not develop in the normally way, this is often seen in children.

Problems with teeth which are not corrected during teenage life, can affect the appearance of the teeth and the shape of the face. This could cause psychological and emotional problems for the patient including lack of self-confidence.

Sever cases can affect the ability of the teeth to function as well as the mouth and jaw. This can make eating food more difficult, harder to clean your teeth and making your teeth more susceptible to damage.
